Created between India, Malaysia, and the Maldives, the foot of mt pumori is her debut work exploring themes of ancestry, displacement, and transformation. Visceral and dreamlike, blending memory, myth, and the body, it tells the story of a woman coming to terms with her Slavic roots, partly breaking free, partly realizing she never fully will.

Maria works at the intersection of fields — linguistics, education, astrology, film, and poetry. Born in Warsaw, Poland, she currently divides her life between continents. Her bilingual poetry allows her to access places within herself unreachable by any other means, and she hopes it can become a way for others to do the same.
